My personal Operation Santa Claus is proceeding ok. All the presents have been purchased along with little bags to put them all in. Candy Canes will be going on sale soon here and I’ll stock up on them then as I’m a Santa on a Budget. A reminder to those who (like me) make hospital visits. When making hospital deliveries always keep the candy canes and any other food separate till you know the kid is allowed to have it. It would be mean to tempt them with candy they aren’t allowed to have. Now I always call up to the children’s ward before starting out to get a current head count. But I always pack extra in case there’s a new arrival from the time I leave home till I get there. Last thing you want to do is run short. If it’s in your budget also try and carry extras for any kids you encounter on the street going to and from in your Santa suit. For those who just might need 1 as a backup this http://santa.dtdns.net/ is the link to my kid safe North Pole Toy Shoppe Santa site. 3 guesses who the guy in the beard is? L.O.L
Well I got the information I needed in an e-mail from the previous owner. But as the initial set up is kind of complex I have contacted Ray my friend, resident IT guy and Vice-President of the lab to come over and help me set it all up. Once set up it will have 2 modes. Local which means it just runs off of my router as part of my system and world wide which means anyone with the control software installed on their computer can access it from where ever they are in the world via the Internet. Home brew telepresence at its finest and cheapest too. L.O.L.
I can hardly wait to start playing with it,
my new bot
On Wednesday the 28th I finally got the Spykee Robot my wife bought me for my birthday on e-bay. But as happy as I am to get it complications have arisen. When I went to register it on the Spykee World site I ran into a hassle. The previous owner had already registered it so I had to get a hold of him to get the information I need to get it up and running. Soon I will have a running Mobil telepresence robot I can access over the Internet. Guess it’s worth the extra hassle as we saved over 50 bucks and got it fully assembled by getting it second hand on e-bay. Ihave some big plans for this bot if I can backwards engineer the tech on it.
Seven of the best looking sweetest kids you have ever seen. Grandkids making getting older worth it.
Well we had a good meeting today and quite a few things got sorted out and put in motion. I told some of the new folks that showed up about getting Spykee and what all we could do once we reverse engineer it. We also covered Blogs and I added Dreamscapes Blog to the Blog link page on the site. Then when I tried to get into my own Blog imagine my surprise when the thing wouldn’t come up. It wasn’t any of the code I did on the lab site it was the Blog site I was using. It’s the 3rd time in a week it has been down and that’s just unacceptable to me. I can’t stand links that don’t work or go to a blank or tacky under construction page. One of my pet peeves. Well checking out the Blog service Dreamscape was using I found that it not only loads up well but even the free version was customizable to an extent. So I went in signed up and made my self 1 there with all the free bells and whistles. I redid some artwork from the lab to decorate it and I think it blends in pretty good. Guess I owe you 1dream. Turns out the other Blog service going down was a blessing in disguise as I like this 1 much better. Going to use this1 from now on.
Well today the last of the supplies the wife and I had ordered on line showed up today for my annual Santa Claus outing(s). Soon Candy Canes will be out at about a dollar a box too if you know where to look and I’ll stock up on those as well. Then I’ll be set up for my annual hospital visits and any other Santa gigs that pop up in my area. For those who may need one I maintain a Santa Web Site called The North Pole Toy Shoppe at http://santa.dtdns.net/. It’s totally kid safe and user friendly and no links leading to things a small child shouldn’t see. On that site Santa is real and it is his web site. If a little child sends an e mail to Santa there they are guaranteed 1 in return. If they call Santa on the phone listed there and he doesn’t answer on the spot leave a number and he will call back. I have been doing this for close to 40 years now and have worked out all the kinks. It’s one of the ways I celebrate Christmas.
