Hi all me again,
I have been woefully negligent in keeping up with this Blog / on line diary. Three basic reasons for it. 1 I’m not so egotistical that I think every day of my life is worth recording and releasing to the public. 2 sometimes you are just too busy living life to write about it. 3 Plain laziness on my part. While 1 and 2 are valid I really need to work on number 3. So here go the highlights. Went back home to Illinois for a funeral in the Family my Sister in law. Couldn’t stay as long as we originally intended, as we had to get back for another funeral on the wife’s side of the family. Now as some may already know I live in a Mobile home park. When I first got here to marry my wife we put an addition on her trailer to hold my stuff. We are 1 of those Internet romances that actually worked out. 14 years now and still going strong. It was originally supposed to be my man cave /guy space but that didn’t last long enough for me to install the carpet. We called it the Unreality Lab. But bit by bit both her and my stepdaughter moved stuff in on me to the point that we really needed more space to be effective. I had thought of getting or building another outbuilding like I did with my workshop but the cost was prohibitive. But then the trailer next to us came up for sale at a ridiculously low price. Way cheaper than the bare minimum outbuilding was priced at so I bought it free and clear in my name. So I moved all my stuff over to it and now have a new way better equipped Unreality Lab complete with kitchen bathroom and Laundry facilities in addition to way more space. Now in addition to way more space than I need we will have a place for guests that stay overnight. My wife and stepdaughter are turning the old location into a craft room. I gave them spare keys to the new lab. Any married man who reads this will know why.

Well shortly after getting back from visiting the Grandkids I ended up in the Hospital. Picked up something called E-Coli that got into my blood stream and tore me a new one. It threw me so far out of whack that my heart went into what’s called A Fib. After several trips to the Hospital and several more to Doctors they finally took me in today knocked me out and shocked me back into sinus rhythm. Feeling much better now though I’m still weak from all the BS that went before. On the upside while I was sick I got a new lap top to add to my computer arsenal. It Runs Windows 8 but with help from Ray Young It still looks like XP so I don’t have such a learning curve. I’d have written in here before this but I hate to be 1 of those old guys who is always complaining about their ailments.
Well I am back from my multi state trip to see my grandkids. It was a real treat to wake up to little arms hugging you while their little voices said wakeup grandpa so we can play. Turns out my wife ands step daughter who lives with us are more computer addicted than I am. One was always on her I pad while the other was using her new laptop. I suppose I will have to get a Laptop too to keep up. Was kind of nice in a way to be unplugged for a week but it’s also nice to be back with my toys. I’ll soon be caught up.

Last night Ray came over to help my wife with some I pads she acquired. While here he also finished the final programming chores on my Spykee Bot. Now it can be accessed and controlled from anywhere on line. I have a special Guest ID and password set up for when I let others operate it on line. After studying how it all works I hope to be able to apply it to Robert The Robot as well. One piece at a time I will eventually achieve my robotic goals. Mostly because I am too stubborn to give up.
Finally got the sewing machine up and running today. Hemmed 4 pair of pants. Now as soon as I get the printer reloaded and the copier up and running Lab equipment will all be good to go.
Well to start here is a pic of me as Santa with my newest elf /grand daughter Saige. All the Santa visits went well including the one where the Mom tells me her child is afraid of Santa just to have the child come to me as their new best friend. As often as it happens it never gets old. L.O.L. The lab is shaping up and we may soon have several new things in our bag of tricks. Still learning my way around with Spykee and hope to have him available soon on line for others to play with too.
Hopefully 2013 will be the year things really take off.
Ray Young and Derek Parsons came over and working together helped set up my Spykee robot. Besides local control it should be accessible from anywhere on line now that the proper ports have been opened. It also gains me a new member and IT / computer Tech in Derek for the Unreality Lab. Things are picking up and I am now officially a happy camper. After a bit of discussion we named him Herbie after the VW Bug of love bug fame. Now when folks show for the meeting tomorrow I’ll have some good news for them. Right now Herbie is recharging himself. As soon as he is recharged I’m going to play. L.O.L.
My personal Operation Santa Claus is proceeding ok. All the presents have been purchased along with little bags to put them all in. Candy Canes will be going on sale soon here and I’ll stock up on them then as I’m a Santa on a Budget. A reminder to those who (like me) make hospital visits. When making hospital deliveries always keep the candy canes and any other food separate till you know the kid is allowed to have it. It would be mean to tempt them with candy they aren’t allowed to have. Now I always call up to the children’s ward before starting out to get a current head count. But I always pack extra in case there’s a new arrival from the time I leave home till I get there. Last thing you want to do is run short. If it’s in your budget also try and carry extras for any kids you encounter on the street going to and from in your Santa suit. For those who just might need 1 as a backup this http://santa.dtdns.net/ is the link to my kid safe North Pole Toy Shoppe Santa site. 3 guesses who the guy in the beard is? L.O.L
Well I got the information I needed in an e-mail from the previous owner. But as the initial set up is kind of complex I have contacted Ray my friend, resident IT guy and Vice-President of the lab to come over and help me set it all up. Once set up it will have 2 modes. Local which means it just runs off of my router as part of my system and world wide which means anyone with the control software installed on their computer can access it from where ever they are in the world via the Internet. Home brew telepresence at its finest and cheapest too. L.O.L.
I can hardly wait to start playing with it,
my new bot
On Wednesday the 28th I finally got the Spykee Robot my wife bought me for my birthday on e-bay. But as happy as I am to get it complications have arisen. When I went to register it on the Spykee World site I ran into a hassle. The previous owner had already registered it so I had to get a hold of him to get the information I need to get it up and running. Soon I will have a running Mobil telepresence robot I can access over the Internet. Guess it’s worth the extra hassle as we saved over 50 bucks and got it fully assembled by getting it second hand on e-bay. Ihave some big plans for this bot if I can backwards engineer the tech on it.
